Abstract

A theory, based on the Lame theory for stresses in thick cylinders, is given which gives the relationship between the tangential, radial and axial stresses, at a point in a two-component tube seal and the distance of that point from the central axis of the seal. Curves are given which show the relationships between the values of the principal stresses at the seal interface and the dimensions of the seal.
