Abstract

The paper offers a theory of the phenomena of stimulated Mandelshtam-Brillouin scattering (SMBS) in “running” conditions in a medium with inhomogeneities of refractive index with due account of the influence of the spontaneous hyperacoustic oscillations. The expressions are obtained for the Green function, the coefficient of increment and the spectrum of the Stokes' irradiation. The effect of modulation of the temporal spectrum of the Stokes' irradiation due to stationary periodical inhomogeneities of the refractive index in a medium is predicted. The conclusions of the theory have been confirmed by the results of computer numerical modeling of the process of “running” SMBS.
