Abstract

Though a short book, Studies in Classic American Literature was an important one for Lawrence. He said that it was the result of five years’ persistent work and that it contained a whole Weltanschauung.1 And indeed, studied as a whole, it does give us the clearest statement of his ‘metaphysics’.
