Abstract

Relevance. The system of teacher training in Kazakhstan has been significantly transformed in recent years. This is caused by the digitalization of the economy and education. The universities were given new tasks to prepare future teachers at schools, including foreign language teachers given the rapid development and diversification of digital technologies in the learning process. The study relevance is predefined by the future teacher and requirement for constant improvement of professional qualities and in-depth knowledge of science and technology.Purpose. The objective of the study is to analyze the theoretical foundations of the search and research sub-competence formation of foreign language teachers.Methodology. The research utilized empirical methods via questionnaires among the 2nd and 3rd-year students of the "Foreign Philology" specialty in Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages.Results. The conclusions define the "search and research competence of foreign language teachers" notion; the development of search and research competence in the training of specialists in the sphere of foreign language teaching based on theoretical and experimental research is schematically presented, the step-by-step explanation of each step in the model is given.Conclusions. The practical significance of this research is in the analysis of possible transformations in the organization and development of search and research skills of students of pedagogical faculties in the specialty of teacher of foreign languages using digital technologies, determination of the importance of sub-competences in the formation of search and research competence, categorization of the process of formation of search and research competence into five important stages, which helps to identify the criteria for assessing the formation of search and research competency and discusses the perspectives of the research.
