Abstract

Abstract This chapter treats the five constituent parts of the New Testament in sequence: the Gospels, the Acts of the Apostles, the Pauline Epistles, the Catholic Epistles, and Revelation (Apocalypse). Details are provided of the principal Old Latin manuscripts and the major commentaries, with a short summary of the textual history of each writing and the paratextual material which became attached to it. Passages of particular significance are discussed, including the ending of Mark, the last chapters of Romans and the Johannine Comma (1 John 5:7–8). There are also details of interpolations in Old Latin tradition, including the Cambridge pericope (Luke 6:4) and several characteristic of insular gospel books.
