Abstract

Abstract: This article discusses the bombing by Lebanese terrorists of a synagogue on the Rue Copernic in Paris that killed four and wounded dozens more in 1980. The terrorists had place a bomb in the satchel of a motorbike. The bomb was set to go off as services ended, but exploded early, which prevented even greater carnage. The perpetrator, now a Sociology professor in Canada. Was tried in Paris in absentia in spring 2023, more than forty years after the attack occurred. The author, who covered the attack and investigation for Libération testified at the trial, which she discusses here as well.
