Abstract

The subsolidus phase relations of the Tm 2O 3–SrO–CuO ternary system have been investigated by X-ray powder diffraction. All samples were synthesized in air at 950°C. There is no ternary compound in the Tm 2O 3–SrO–CuO system at 950°C. The system can be divided into six three-phase regions. A new binary compound SrTm 2O 4 is identified. This compound crystallizes in an orthorhombic unit cell with space group Pnma and lattice constants of a=10.0082 Å, b=3.3771 Å and c=11.8173 Å.
