Abstract

The critical term is an essential element of any serious and effective literary criticism in approaching creative texts and highlighting its intellectual and aesthetic components. Furthermore, it plays a pivotal role in controlling concepts to facilitate communication between those interested. The critical term also contributes in ensuring the objectivity of the approach since it is a linguistic sign formed from a signifier and a signified defined in a specific field of knowledge in contrast to the regular linguistic sign which may have several meanings. Thus, the present paper aims to examine the reality of the critical term and the problem of its translation and reception in Arabic criticism in light of the Western critical accumulations.
