Abstract

The specific growth rate of ‘Nonpareil’ almond cell cultures growing in exponential phase was measured at temperatures in the range of 20–30°C. Specific growth rates differed with the non-infectious bud failure (BF) potential of the source plant, the cell line, the age of cell lines, and the temperature. The optimum temperature for growth was found to be in the range of 28–32°C. Specific growth rate decreased more sharply at temperatures above the optimum for the cell lines derived from BF sources.
