Abstract

The crystallographic dependence of the surface segregation of a 50% CoNi alloy was determined over a temperature range from 870 to 1100 K. It was found that Ni segregates for all three surfaces. The heat and entropy of segregation were determined for each face. It is noted that the entropy of segregation is not negligible as is commonly assumed.
