Research Article| October 01 2016 The Temperance Songs of Stephen C. Foster Paul D. Sanders Paul D. Sanders Paul D. Sanders is a professor of music education at the Ohio State University at Newark. He earned graduate degrees in choral conducting and music education at the University of Oklahoma. Sanders serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Historical Research in Music Education. His publications include Lyrics and Borrowed Tunes of the American Temperance Movement (University of Missouri Press) as editor, 175 Progressive Diatonic Exercises, and 200 Progressive Pentatonic Exercises (Masterworks Press). His most recent articles appear in Social History of Alcohol and Drugs and the Journal of Historical Research in Music Education.
