The technomart as a mechanism for technology transfer: a review of international experience

Summary:. The authors point out thatfirms in developing countries prefer to invest in technology transfer over development of new technology to save time and money. This article surveys the literature on effective technology transfer mechanisms in general, then examines the use of the technomart in particular as a mechanism for international technology transfer to developing countries. International technomart examples are used to suggest some important issues to manage in establishing an effective technomart. The authors focus in particular upon lessons learned at the WTA (World Technopolis Association) Technomart in Taejon, Korea.
