Abstract
This paper attempts to investigate the question of whether students at the Historically Black Universities (HBU) in South Africa are experiencing a problem with the study of Religious Education in a lecture-hall of students with different religious traditions. A questionnaire was administered to 320 students, 160 males and 160 females of the University of the North (UNIN) in South Africa who were registered in the schools of Social Sciences and Education respectively. The questionnaire was analysed by chi-square and SPSS computer programs. The main result of the study was that the teaching of Religious Education in the multi-religious class is not perceived as a problem by students.
