Abstract
SUMMARY The paper sets out the requirements of the various UK professional engineering bodies for the inclusion of the teaching of materials in engineering degree courses following the publication of the Finniston report. It discusses the teaching of materials in non-materials engineering courses and in materials engineering courses.
