Abstract

This study addressed teachers' perceptions regarding Religious Education and its impact on reducing violence in public schools. The main goal was to identify and analyze educators' perceptions of Religious Education and its correlation with the reduction of school violence incidents. The methodology consisted of a literature review, involving a critical analysis of sources related to the topic. Results indicated that educators recognize the importance of Religious Education in ethical and moral development of students and in promoting a respectful school environment. Effective pedagogical strategies in Religious Education, such as fostering inter-religious dialogue, were identified as key to preventing school violence. The final considerations emphasized the need for an educational approach that respects diversity and promotes inclusion, highlighting the importante role of well-prepared educators in this process. The study concluded that when properly implemented, Religious Education can significantly contribute to reducing violence in schools.
