Abstract

College English, Volume 68, Number 2, November 2005 Neal Lerner is a lecturer in Writing Across the Curriculum at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he teaches scientific and technical communications. He is coeditor (with Beth Boquet) of the Writing Center Journal and coauthor (with Paula Gillespie) of The Allyn and Bacon Guide to Peer Tutoring, 2nd ed. His publications have appeared in Composition Studies, Writing Center Journal, Writing Lab Newsletter, and several edited collections. His current research focuses on the history of teaching both writing and science via “laboratory methods.” The Teacher-Student Writing Conference and the Desire for Intimacy
