Abstract
The study reveals the importance of establishing the correct taxonomy and nomenclature for the Northern Australian Greater Blue-ringed Octopus. This is because at first only two species were recognized but malcologists specializing in the taxonomy of these cephalopods have found at least 10 species separated by different body sizes and particular arrangements of their blue markings.
