Abstract

"The Tale of Genji" and "Dream of Red Mansions" are monuments in Japanese and Chinese literary circles. The two ideal heroes, Genji and Jia Baoyu, portrayed by Lady Murasaki and Cao Xueqin, have become two immortal classic images in the history of Japanese and Chinese literature. This article analyzes the similarities and differences in their personalities to conduct more in-depth research and explore the literary and aesthetic values of the two works.
