Abstract
Since the end of the Second World War Two, the Republic of China on Taiwan has been one of the most successful cases of achieving rapid economic growth and adopting democracy among developing countries. These distinguished performances, widely acclaimed as ‘the Taiwan Experience’, are increasingly attracting international attention and also reflecting Asia region’s impressive economic and political development over the years. The Taiwan Experience needs to be more appreciated in view of the fact that today, fifty years after the Second World War, many countries are devoted to peace and stability to ensure a conducive international environment for economic and political development. I intend to shed some light on the process of Taiwan’s transformation, on the reasons for its success, and on its expected continuing success.
