Abstract
The experimental data from the O 16(t, p)O 18 and O 18(t, p)O 20 reactions are used to obtain relative information on the coupling schemes valid in the ground state of the O 18 and O 20 nuclei. The comparison with theory is based on the plane-wave Born approximation for double stripping. The pairing, SU 3 and aligned coupling schemes are examined. The pairing coupling scheme only seems to be excluded from the competition by experiment.
