Abstract

(1+1′) resonance enhanced multiphoton ionization (REMPI) and dispersive photoelectron (PE) spectrometry have been used to identify the ionic cores associated with ungerade Xe2 Rydberg states dissociating to Xe(1S0)+(Xe*6p[1/2]0,Xe*5d[5/2]30, and Xe*[3/2]10). Several features in the PE spectra were also found to originate from the ionization of excited Xe atom terms produced by molecular predissociation. These results support a previous REMPI / time-of-flight mass spectrometry study on the excited states considered here, and confirm predictions made from angular momentum arguments.
