Abstract
Several acetyl-oxazoles have been prepared by condensation of aromatic aldehydes with hydroxyimino-β-diketones in the presence of dry hydrogen chloride and reduction of the intermediate N-oxides. The acetyl-oxazoles were oxidised to the corresponding acids with sodium hypobromite.
