Ascorbic acid synthesis by chloretone-treated rats of the Wistar strain has been investigated by means of radioactive tracer techniques
In the course of this investigation radioactive ascorbic acid was prepared biosynthetically, and methyl-labeled chloretone was synthesized by the Grignard reaction
Following the administration of labeled glucose, approximately 0.3 per cent conversion to ascorbic acid was observed within a period of 24 hours
Summary
