Abstract

Abstract New donor molecules, 4,5-ethylenedithio-4′5′-vinylenedithiotetrathiafulvalene (EVT) and its methyl and dimethyl derivatives (EMVT and EDMVT), were synthesized for the study of conducting organic salts. They are unsymmetrical TTF derivatives possessing moieties of both BEDT-TTF and bis(vinylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene (VT) or its methyl and dimethyl derivatives. Their oxidation potentials were measured and then compared with those of the related donor molecules. The X-ray crystal structure analysis of EVT revealed that its molecular and crystal structures are very close to that of BEDT-TTF.
