Abstract

Strained phenylacetylene macrocycles, cyclic [3]- and [4]metaphenylacetylenes ([n]CMPAs) and methoxy derivatives, and cyclic [5]- to [9]paraphenylacetylenes ([n]CPPAs) were prepared using a strategy based on the McMurry coupling reaction. The physicochemical and supramolecular properties of these substances were determined.
