Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression, relationship and the clinical significance of Cyclin A and p16 protein in hepatocareinogenesis. Methods The expression of Cyclin A and p16 protein in 35 cases of HCC and corresponding non-tumor tissues was detcted by Western blot. CyclinA was as-sessed by immunohistochemistry. Results The over-expression of Cyclin A was found in 21 (60.0%) outof 35 cases of HCC,and the expression loss of p16 protein was found in 22 (62.9%) out of 35 cases. Nineteen cases (90.5%) out of 21 cases with Cyclin A over-expression and 3 (21.4%) out of 14 cases without Cyclin A over-expression turned up the expression loss of p16 protein. There was significant differ-ence between the two groups (P < 0. 05 ). Conclusion The disorder of cell cycle caused by the over-ex- pression of Cyclin A and the expression loss of p16 protein may play important roles and the two factors en-hance each other in the mechanism of hepatocareinogenesis. Key words: Carcinoma, hepatocellular; Cyclin A; p16 protein
