Abstract

This article reports on changes in lightbulb standards in the U.S. and how different kinds of lightbulbs can save energy while maintaining light output. An energy bill passed by the U.S. Congress in 2006 set requirements to make lightbulbs more efficient by 2012 and 2014. The article also discusses lightbulb construction, technology, and manufacturers. Fluorescent, incandescent, compact fluorescent, and light-emitting diode lightbulbs are compared as well.
