Abstract

In McKeesport, Pennsylvania: centre of Swedish publishing in mid-Atlantic America (Geografiska Annaler (1992) B), I suggested that the Swedish press in the Pennsylvania iron and steel town of McKeesport was characterised by its vigour and its progressive and often radical views which were in turn linked to its strong temperance stance. Since publication of the article, three further copies of McKeesport newspapers have become accessible and their contents confirm and amplify the conclusions of the original article, which in turn are set in a wider context by important recent findings about the German-American press.
