The survival rating and healthiness of wild service tree [Sorbus torminalis (L.) Crantz] in the Milicz Forest District

Summary The wild service tree [Sorbus torminalis (L.) Crantz] is a rare tree species found in scattered locations mainly in western Poland
In order to prevent further genetic as well as the quantitative degradation of the service treespopulation in our country, attempts have been made to establish activities that would protect the genetic resources of S. torminalis at the in situ and ex situ level, including the restitution of the species in replacement sites, and the introduction of individual plants to forest areas
It was shown that trees growing in the new forest habitat were lower and had a lower health condition compared to trees growing in the mixed forest habitat
