Abstract

To understand the principles of Armoured Fighting Vehicle (AFV) design it is important that the relationship between protection and cross-country mobility is quantified. A simple BASIC computer program has been developed which enables the student of AFV design to investigate the survivability of such a vehicle as a function of its mobility, armour type and threat level. The paper describes the bases and limitations of the program, presents some typical results and examines the lessons that can be learned from such a study.
