The survey on blood pressure in 9340 school children in Shanghai and Zhejiang Province

Abstract

To evaluate the life quality of elderly patients with hypertension in Wenchuan megaseism-stricken area and discuss the influencing factors. Using SF-36 scale associated with related entries of chronic diseases of elderly patients to investigate 1592 people in the megaseism-stricken area. Then choosing 178 patients who are above 60, 178 whose blood pressure is normal and 178 hyperpietic who have excluded other diseases as the investigating objects. Except social function and pain, the life quality of the elderly patients with hypertension is significantly different with that of the control group (P<0.01), their score is lower than that of the normal group, and scores of different aspects of life quality of the elderly patients with hypertension are varied widely. Among them, the score on pain, strength/fatigue, cognitive function and healthy feeling is lower than 50 points. And the score on the overall health, living conditions in the latest one month, mental function, sleep, health changes and the economy is between 60 and 70 points. While the score on daily living, appetite and other aspects of social function is in 70–85 points. Elderly hypertensive patients in Wenchuan megaseism areas have a poor life quality. Factors influencing the life quality of the patients include age, educational level, marriage and so on. Most of the megaseism-stricken areas in Wenchuan of Sichuan province are mountain areas and ethnic minority kibbutz with less developed economy and poor health care and services, together with the family members' casualty, property damage, the normal psychology and physiology of people in the disaster area are seriously impacted and disturbed. Therefore, to provide better medical care services to patients in the disaster area.
