Abstract

Objective To study the clinical manifestation, diagnosis and surgical treatment of sternal malignant tumor. Methods The clinical manifestations, X-ray, operation methods and prognosis were analyzed by retrospectively summarizing 13 cases of sternal malignant tumor from 1994 to 2004. Results There is no death of operation and all patients were discharged from the hospital. Four patients were still alive following up for 5 years. Conclusion The surgical resection is the best treatment to sternal malignant tumor. The prognosis has significance relationship with the size of tumor, the local invading and the differentiation degree of carcinoma cells.
