The SciencesVolume 7, Issue 6-7 p. 25-28 The surgery of replacement and repair SIR PETER BRIAN MEDAWAR, SIR PETER BRIAN MEDAWAR Sir Peter Brian Medawar received the Nobel Prize in physiology and medicine in 1960 together with Dr. F. M. Burnet for the discovery of acquired immunological tolerance. A zoologist, Sir Peter was educated at Magdalen College, Oxford, where he later taught. He has also taught at the University of Birmingham and the University College, London.
