Abstract
Exposure of Lunar fines (14163,111) to atomic hydrogen resulted in a surface reduction, the final surface density of the added hydrogen being 2 hydrogen atoms/100 Å 2. Exposure to oxygen at 25°C produced a partial reoxidation of the surface while nitrogen had no effect. It is postulated that the solar wind will completely reduce materials on the lunar surface but that exposure to a terrestrial or similar atmosphere will result in rapid partial reoxidation.
