Abstract

It is demonstrated that the optical modulation of the, transmission of low energy electrons which are incident on films of metal-free phthalocyanine (H 2Pc) depends to some extent on the identify of the metal forming the rear contact. These results imply that in some cases, there is outdiffusion of the metal to the H 2Pc free surface. However, there does not appear to be a significant amount of photomodulation at the H 2Pc/Metal interface, which could be due to the optical absorption of the incident light in the H 2Pc film prior to its reaching the rear contact.
