Abstract

The literature dealing with the effect of sulfuric acid on the constituents of raw cotton fiber has been reviewed. The constituents of starch slasher mixes have been noted. The sulfuric acid steep has been studied at elevated temperatures in the laboratory. Under carefully controlled conditions the sulfuric acid steep may be conducted at elevated temperatures without fiber damage and with a considerable saving in time.
