Abstract
ABSTRACT Anti-Whirl PDC bit technology, proven in full-hole bit designs, has been successfully applied to conventional coring operations. Coring operations were conducted during Amoco's Deep Water Drilling Program in water depths ranging from 3250 to 6521 ft. This paper reviews the coring operations on three wells and compares the results to those achieved in other Deep Water applications. Also included are the results of laboratory testing to establish hydraulic levels required to core Gulf Coast shales.
