Abstract
Rates of chlorine-atom abstraction by Me 3N→BHBu and Et 3Si from RCH 2Cl [R = Pr, MeOCH 2, (MeO) 2CH, Me 3Si] have been determined using ESR spectroscopy. The relatively rapid abstraction of chlorine from MeOCH 2CH 2Cl by the very nucleophilic Me 3N→BHBu is attributed to a kinetic anomeric effect.
