Abstract
Argas (Persicargas) robertsi, n. sp., is described from females, males, nymphs, and larvae collected together with the fowl tick, A. (P.) persicus (Oken), in chicken houses in Queensland. Presumably this new species also infests wild birds in Australia. The status of Australian populations attributed to A. (P.) persicus (Oken) remains to be resolved. Keys are provided to larvae and adults of known Australian argasid species: Ornithodoros (Pavlovskyella) macmillani Hoogstraal & Kohls, O. (P.) gurneyi Warburton, O. (Alectorobius) capensis Neumann, Argas (A.) lagenoplastis Froggatt, A. (Persicargas) robertsi, A. (P.) persicus, A. (Carios) australiensis Kohls & Hoogstraal, and A. (C.) vespertilionis-group.
