The study on usages and problems of the MRT system in Taipei metropolitan area

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to reveal usages and problems of The Taipei MRT system (Taipei Metro) in Taipei metropolitan area through residences, their determiners and commuting mode of Japanese people. The Taipei MRT system is required to be developed because its improvement will be surely able to reduce traffic congestion, accidents and air pollution, which are caused by a lot of motorcycles. Commuting plays an important role in traffic in urban areas. And these days, more and more Japanese people live in Taipei metropolitan area. Therefore, it is possible to reveal problems of the Taipei MRT, which should be further developed, based on analyzing residences, their determiners and commuting mode of Japanese people. This paper gives some conclusions on The Taipei MRT system and suggestions for Japan from the hearing surveys and the questionnaire surveys.本研究は日本人の居住の実態とその決定要因、及び通勤手段を通じて、台北都市圏のMRTの利用実態や課題を明らかにすることを目的とする。台北都市圏では、1500万台のスクーターなどにより道路混雑や交通事故が激化し、また環境の点からもMRTの発達が求められている。中でも通勤交通は都市交通において重要な部分を占めている。また台北都市圏に住む日本人は増加の傾向にある。そのため、日本人の通勤行動や住居の地域・決定要因から、台北MRTの利用実態を分析することで、一層の充実が求められる台北MRTの課題を明らかにすることができると考えられる。本研究では日本人を対象としたアンケートを行い、MRTに関する結論や日本への示唆を得た。
