Abstract
Optimization of streamlined process flow is one of the most important mechanisms in the production of automotive products. This research focuses on analyzing the best way to implement the streamlined process flow at automotive seats upholstery manufacturer in Malaysia. The objectives of this study is to propose an improvement on the process time that would result in either reduction of workstation idle time, minimize the number of workstation, and facilitate the elimination of unnecessary cost though cycle time studies through simulation. The observed process data are analyzed together with takt time calculation and standard work analysis. The simulations of the time study at the streamlined process flow are then designed by using Delmia Quest software to show efficiency of the current production line as compared to the suggested process flow. The outcomes of the study are reduction of workload task and increase of production line efficiency, line balancing, reduce transportation and motion flow.
