Abstract

Code for Design Structures gives the formula for calculating the average axial compressive strength of various types of masonry. In this formula, the parameters of the formula is related to the type of block materials. The formula sets the same standard for parameters of various concrete blocks. But it doesn't put forward the special calculation parameters for the Multi-hole concrete hollow block. In fact, the compressive strength of Multi-hole concrete hollow block is different from that of concrete block. Based on the Hisldorf Failure Theory, this paper establishes a theoretical formula for the compressive strength of multi-hole of concrete hollow block from the perspective of the theory of plane stress problems. The results of the formula given in this paper are in accordance with the results of the compressive strength test and improves the model of the code in theory.
