Abstract

Due to environmental influences such as pollution and high humidity, Leakage Current (LC) can flow on the surface of the insulator which will result in energy losses and degradation of the insulator surface so that the insulator is quickly derived from its use. The study of leakage current is necessary to determine the condition of the surface of the insulator. This paper presents the results leakage current waveforms on ceramic insulators at various conditions such as clean and artificial pollution. The observed parameters are the magnitude, THD of the leakage current, and surface temperature of the insulator. The Simulation was conducted in ATP/EMTP Software. Leakage current harmonics analysis is obtained by performing Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) on the waveform. It shows that, the artificial polluted insulator has larger leakage current magnitude than the clean sample insulator.
