Abstract
An approach is developed for the study of specific adsorption of polar solvents at solid electrodes based on the analysis of the dependence of stimulation by elastic deformation of the electrode specific increment of surface charge density Δ q A on potential E. Based on the analysis of (Δ q, E) curves, an assumption was made that, contrary to copper and cadmium, polycrystalline silver does not manifest a notable affinity to water, while cadmium displays a higher adsorptive activity as compared to copper. It was assumed that minimal values of specific increment of integral capacity Δ K stimulated by elastic deformation, in the region of small negative surface charges (σ) on the (Δ K, σ) curves of copper and cadmium are due to minimal orientation of water dipoles at the interface.
