Abstract

It is difficult to create a map and to sketch a picture of the study of religions in Italy. The difficulty is due to a paucity of information about this discipline as well as to a lack of communication in this field. Nevertheless, the study of religions today enjoys high standing, particularly among historians of religions, sociologists of religions, and, last but not least, theologians. The study of religions in Italy in recent years is no longer a territory which belongs to an ideology or to a distinctive culture, but is one which belongs simply to the culture as such and therefore is a territory in which any science can express and find itself.
