Abstract

The problems that existed during the product design process are always complex and with many possible solutions. Usually, the logical steps to solve a problem with multiple solutions are analysis, synthesis, evaluation, and decision-making. The study includes the analyses of the characteristics, requirements and various restraints of the design scheme, search of various solutions, and decision making that can fit the design scheme best after a comprehensive evaluation. Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is a decision-making method that uses the quantitative analysis to solve the qualitative problems. It is one of the most widely used methods that has a sound theoretical basis. Furthermore, the combination of AHP with design always leads to the complex problem of design evaluation being well done. In this chapter, the AHP method and the application of AHP are studied and discussed in the design evaluation from a real case; finally a product design evaluation process based on AHP has been presented.
