Abstract

With large amount of renewable energy resources integrated into strong coupling interconnected power system (IPS), the conventional automatic generation control (AGC) scheme leads to the increase of the AGC regulation cost and the shortage of the AGC regulation amount in some control areas. In this paper, cooperation of AGC in different control areas was used to solve these problems. Optimal cooperation of AGC in different control areas is a multi-area AGC economic dispatch (MAAED) problem, so the relationship between MAAED and regulation marginal cost (RMC) of different AGC was studied. Based on this, a distributed coordination control scheme based on RMC was proposed. Further, on the basis of linear theory, the stability of an improved dynamic model of IPS with proposed scheme was studied and the range of control parameters was determined. Finally, the 3-areas IPS is used to verify the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed scheme, comparing with other three existing schemes.
