Abstract

Media discourse witnessed rapid development as translation in the field grew globally, as seen in the Kurdish media. However, there are many challenges that journalistic translators and interpreters should take into consideration. This study discusses linguistic conceptual issues journalistic translators and interpreters face in both English and Kurdish, and the challenges and solutions are considered mainly in rendering the linguistic features. This study focuses on the most apparent conceptual issues in linguistics, the role of translators and interpreters, the methods used, and how the characteristics of media translation are seen in translation. To analyze the issue, two main tools have been used. First is analyzing parallel texts in English and Kurdish to see how linguistic features work between the two languages. At the same time, the second one is interviewing the most experienced translators and interpreters and asking some questions regarding translation in media discourse. The study has found that the linguistic features could vary between the two languages, and the media agency has a tremendous impact on it. However, the study suggests further studies concerning linguistic conceptualization and the role of media agencies for leading translators and interpreters.
