Abstract

The high field magnetization measurements in Lu1−xYbxB12 have been performed. In the dilute Yb region (0<x<0.5), the molar RB12 high field magnetic susceptibility values at 4.2 K show a linear increase with x and this behavior seems to be of a single-impurity Kondo state. In the more dense Yb region, the molar magnetic susceptibility values at 4.2 K remain almost constant with no relation to x. This behavior may be due to the formation of an energy gap.
