Abstract

Nowadays, driving under alcohol is an important factor of the traffic accidents. To study the driver's brain activities under the alcohol, the event-related brain potentials (ERPs) were induced using the traffic environment pictures (human beings, traffic lights, and animals). Generally, the average response accuracy rate under alcohol is lower than the normal state, and the average latency time under alcohol is longer than the normal state. Decreasing amplitudes of later peaks of ERPs were found in the ERP data. Meanwhile, it was concluded that the right side of brain has been impaired by the alcohol more than the left side. It is concluded that alcohol has some damages on human's brain, especially on the right side.
